Off course you have to go to Egypt if you have lived in the ME – so we packed our bags and off we went. It was with some resistance because we have heard that Egyptians can be a bit tiresome – but there were pyramids to be photographed. I knew from the start that Arne was going to go nuts on the photo scene and he did have a blast. I have a very talented boy.
Iran was so completely what we did not expect. We were pleasantly surprised. We started off in Shiraz which used to be the wine region of the old Persia. It is a lovely city but sadly has been run down with little money and hardships suffered because of the Cultural Revolution.
We lived in Bahrain for two years and these are pictures of trips around the island. Camels, sun and desert in abundance. The island is relatively small, with large areas covered by the ever expanding suburbs. The rest is divided amongst the gas field operators and no-go military areas.
